On Friday 6th May children and staff celebrated the King’s upcoming coronation by wearing red, white and blue clothes, having a picnic and producing work around the event. There were smiles all around as the children entered school waving their flags.

Throughout the week children had been learning about the coronation and they created some wonderful artwork. Layla in Year 6 said, “I enjoyed creating the coronation bunting. It was fun.” In Year 4 they created collages of King Charles’ head. James in Year 1 said, “I waved the flag I made at school when I watched the King get his crown on TV.” The children’s work was displayed around school throughout the week in preparation for the celebrations.

At lunchtime on Friday, the children and adults enjoyed a special picnic lunch prepared by our catering team. The rain held off and the sun was shining. It was lovey to see the whole school eating together with smiles on their faces. Many of the children commented that they enjoyed eating outside in the nice weather with their friends. Mrs Bloomfield enjoyed talking to the children about their plans for the Coronation weekend. We all enjoyed celebrating this special event as a school community.
