Over the last few weeks, Year 6 have been linking their mathematics learning to a Bakery Project. We began by comparing the cost of ingredients in two different supermarkets. We used our knowledge of ratio to ensure our recipe catered for enough cupcakes. Then we discussed how much we would sell our cupcakes for in order to make a profit.

Following this, we designed our cupcake boxes, looking at 3D nets. We had to ensure our measurements would work.

Finally, we baked our cupcakes and enjoyed eating them in the sun!

Some comments from Year 6:

Ellie-May – “I enjoyed designing our cupcake boxes and linking it to 3D nets.”

Simrit – “It was fun to see how Maths works in the real world!”

Hayden – “The best part was eating the cupcakes!”
