Mrs Goode signed our school up to an engineering challenge last academic year. Gratefully, we received a James Dyson Engineering box this half term, and we have had the challenge of deconstructing and constructing parts of a Dyson V12 Detect Slim Animal vacuum cleaner. First we discussed the job role of an engineer, and we explored the different types of engineers that worked on this model of vacuum. We then had a look at the design elements, thinking about why certain features were designed in a certain way. Finally, we had a go at taking apart one of the attachments for the vacuum, and then had to try to fix it back together again. Safe to say, it really tested our resilience and teamworking skills!

Thank you to Mrs Goode for giving us this opportunity. We have loved it!

Blake: ‘It was hard to build it again but it was fun!”

Ethan: ‘It would be cool to be an engineer.”

Andreas: “I can’t believe it took so long to make their final design that is used today!”
