This half term’s Science topic has been Electricity. The children have been learning the difference between appliances that use mains electricity and batteries. We have also discussed the dangers of electricity and designed posters. We then went on to explore how we could make a light bulb work and discovered that electricity flows when we have a closed circuit. To extend our learning further, the children were asked to make circuits with two light bulbs and then with a switch. They were able to explain why the light bulbs were not shining so brightly and how the switch works within a circuit.

To make links between our Science topic and our Read Along Text, The Iron Man, the children then spent this week’s Terrific Tuesday afternoon designing and making The Iron Man’s head with their Mainstream teacher. Their challenge was to make the Iron Man’s eyes light up. What do you think of their work?
