Once again, Year 4 have been working hard on their Times Tables. As we grow closer to the MTC, we are working on our fluency and speed with recalling our times table facts up to 12×12.

This week, we played some new games and activities to help us with our learning.

We played a matching game where we had to arrange a jumbled set of cards correctly, accurately and as quickly as we could using our times table knowledge.

We played another game of BINGO! We had to work quickly and efficiently when Mrs Morgan called the numbers to see if it was the answer to any of the calculations on our BINGO sheet.

We played Guess the Question, where we had a range of different number cards and we had to guess what the multiplication question could be. We considered could there be two different questions for the same number?

Samhita – ‘I know 6 x 3 = 18 and 2 x 9 = 18’

Sophie – ‘I know 4 x 4 = 16 and 2 x 8 = 16’

Evan – ‘I know 5 x 8 = 40 and 10 x 4 = 40’

We played I have.. Who has? which was a great way to test each others times table knowledge and to challenge one another.

We also played dominoes but with a multiplication twist! The children had to match the arrange the dominoes so that the answer to the calculation was accurately matched to the array.

We also listened to some fun and catchy songs to help us remember our tables! Miss Beacom is extremely proud of all the children – everyone has been working hard over the last few weeks to improve their soundcheck scores. Keep practising over half term, Year 4! Not long to go! 💻
