Last Wednesday, we were pleased to welcome Anne Lowe from HSBC into school to talk to us about financial capability. Children in Year 1, Year 3 and Year 5 took part in workshops. A special thank you to Anne for delivering the sessions.

Year 1 took part in the ‘Toy Time’ workshop. This session looks at the cost of buying toys and how long it would take to save up for a toy. The lesson helps young people to understand choices that they can make around spending and saving and that others may make different choices.

Year 3 took part in the ‘Super Supper Challenge’ workshop. They learned about how to budget when we are older to make healthy meals. We looked at the Eatwell Plate and thought about how to spot bargains and deals in shops.

Year 5 took part in the ‘Sporting Chance’ workshop. This session explores how easy it can be to get ‘carried away’ spending money through not considering all the added extras involved in a day out. Children will have the opportunity to plan a day out to see their team play and look at what choices we can make to keep in budget.
