Children in Year 2 have been learning about windmills this week. How exciting!

In our first lesson, they learned that windmills have been around for several centuries and were used to grind down wheat to make flour, move water and in modern times to create electricity. Children discovered the different types of windmills and the materials that were used to build them. Even today, there are people that live in windmills in other countries.

One child said ,”I had no idea that windmills could do so much!”

After watching a demonstration, they got to make windmills simply using cups and straws. They thoroughly enjoyed making them and explored different construction techniques.

Children are looking forward to their next few lessons.

Well done Year 2!
